We’ve already got some smartphone beasts in the market like the Pre and the iPhone , but Android hasn’t really had a supercharged, drool-worthy device yet — a knight in shining armor ready to sweep the platform off its feet and ride off into the sunset. Super-vague report in the Nikkei this morning about NEC working on a seven-to-eight-inch “mobile device as capable as a personal computer” that’s aimed at business customers — no specs are given, but the tiny accompanying pic definitely shows the Android app tab at the bottom of that custom UI. Very mysterious. The report says NEC thinks it’ll move 100,000 to 200,000 of these a year after it launches next fall, and plans to sell a million a year over time, but we’ll wait to see what’s real and what’s not before we tackle that prediction

We’ve got a thing for Sanyo’s Eneloops . Had it ever since Sanyo released us from the clutches of underperforming NiCad and NiMH batteries about five years ago. Its latest AA and AAA batteries can be recharged about 1,500 times, that’s about 3 years of continuous service and 500 more cycles than competing rechargeables, according to Sanyo.
