iPod touch becomes iPhone using Yosion’s Apple Peel 520? thumbnail

Oh sure, VoIP on the iPod touch is hardly breaking news these days, but what if you could actually slap on a regular SIM card and make calls on said device? That’s what Yosion’s appropriately named Apple Peel 520 claims to do. Powered by an Infineon baseband chip, this adapter not only offers voice calling and text messaging (presumably requiring a jailbroken iPod touch for the apps; GPRS not possible yet), but it also doubles up as an 800mAh battery and provides 4.5 hours of call time or 120 hours of standby juice.

Next-gen iPod touch rumors heat up: front-facing camera, September release? thumbnail

It’s a bit early to confirm anything just yet, but it’s starting to look like Apple might be working on a new iPod touch . The latest of evidence backing up that shocking fact are two separate rumors that cover some familiarly territory, but with a bit more weight that before

Magellan’s waterproof Toughcase wraps GPS module, extended battery around your iPhone thumbnail

There are iPhone cases, and then there’s Magellan ’s waterproof Toughcase. Priced at $199.99, it’s actually just as expensive as a new iPhone 4 on contract, and double the price of an iPhone 3GS (which it actually houses). So, what does two Benjamins get you

Japan tends to be on the weird side of any coin, and The Fingerist does nothing to undermine that reputation. This accessory for the iPhone and iPod touch was conceived at a “mutton BBQ restaurant” when one dude said to another that he needed an amp for his guitar app

Financial Times: US antitrust regulators plan to investigate Apple’s mobile advertising practices thumbnail

There’s not a lot of details on this at the moment, but the Financial Times is reporting that US antitrust regulators plan to investigate Apple’s mobile advertising practices to see whether they unfairly restrict rivals like Google and Microsoft. As you’ll recall, Apple recently revised its rules on outside advertisers and, specifically, their ability to collect analytics on ads for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, effectively cutting out Google’s AdMob in the process — something the company’s CEO has publicly complained about .

You may not think to look at ASRock when considering a new pre-fabricated HTPC , but the company had two new SFF boxes at Computex that could certainly suffice. The Vision 3D (available in black / silver and with or without a Blu-ray drive) was the sleeker of the two, with a minuscule form factor that could easily be tucked beneath your cable box and a Core i5-520M CPU at the helm.

PosiMotion Helix iPhone / iPod touch gaming grip now available at Best Buy thumbnail

PosiMotion certainly announced this one well enough in advance (all the way back in December ), but it looks like its Helix gaming grip for the iPhone and iPod touch is now finally available, and at Best Buy no less. In case your memory needs to be jogged a bit, this $20 contraption promises to be ideal for “virtually any game,” and let you use your iPhone or iPod touch in either portrait or landscape mode — it’ll also keep your headphones from getting tangled up for good measure. Still not convinced?
