An 11.6-inch laptop with a Core i7 processor. Does the Lenovo IdeaPad U160 really need more of an introduction than that

Pandas, East Asia, wood. Nope, “laptop” hasn’t ever been on the list of words we typically associate with “bamboo,” but ASUS sure has us willing to tack it on with the introduction of its U Bamboo Series

Acer Aspire Timeline X laptops arrive stateside sans ULV processors thumbnail

Acer’s Timeline X laptops have been popping up around the world for over three months now, but the thin and light machines are finally making their way to this side of the globe, and we can only hope they’re as excited as we are. The machines all shun ULV processors for standard voltage Core i3 or i5 CPUs, yet each of the models still ring up at under a grand. They also span the entire size spectrum — there’s an 11.6-inch 1830T, 13.3-inch 3820T, 14-inch 4820T and lastly the 15.6-inch 5820T.

Lenovo jumps on the 3D laptop train with the IdeaPad Y560d thumbnail

We’re not sure there are any PC manufacturers without a 3D laptop in store at this point, but add Lenovo to the confirmed list! The 15.6-inch IdeaPad Y560d poo poos NVIDIA’s 3D Vision , and instead utilizes TriDef’s 3D technology like Acer Aspire 5738DG . The solution, which combines a specially coated screen, software and special polarizing glasses, can convert 2D content to 3D content, but in our previous experience we’ve been less than impressed with the quality of the end result. And unlike Toshiba’s Satellite A665 , TriDef doesn’t support 3D Blu-ray content.

We can’t say this one is much of a surprise, but it sure is good to get the official details on Intel’s latest ultra-low voltage Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. Just as we had heard , the new dual-core CPUs will be landing this June, and though they won’t be replacing the current Celeron and Pentium ULVs on the market, they’ll certainly provide a more powerful option for the “ultra-thin” category
