iFixit celebrates Friday with teardown of Virtual Boy, the greatest game console man has ever known thumbnail

We still have memories — some would say nightmares, but we digress — of hanging out at a neighbor’s house and taking turns playing matches of Mario’s Tennis , our biological ocular displays assimilated into a rubber mask that engulfed our brains and left us in a permanent state of viewing the world in red wireframe. Crude 3D though it may be, it’s still a part of history we must accept, and if you happen to own a Virtual Boy, we have just two things to say to you. One: we’re insanely jealous.

Entelligence: when less beats Moore thumbnail

Entelligence is a column by technology strategist and author Michael Gartenberg, a man whose desire for a delicious cup of coffee and a quality New York bagel is dwarfed only by his passion for tech. In these articles, he’ll explore where our industry is and where it’s going — on both micro and macro levels — with the unique wit and insight only he can provide. We are all familiar with Moore’s law .

Sony ponders charging for ‘online pass’ game functionality thumbnail

We specifically told you guys not to tell your friends at Sony about a certain “feature” of EA Sports whereby the player is charged $10 to unlock online content and multiplayer functionality . Nikon Rumors does its best to keep an ear to the ground on DSLR whispers of a certain company. This time, however, the whispers might resonate a bit louder as they bounce off the rocky walls of Page, Arizona-based Canyons

Meego for In-Vehicle Infotainment 1.0 launched today, all testing recommended on a closed course thumbnail

We got a glimpse into the world of MeeGo for In-Vehicle Infotainment late last month when BMW, GM, Hyundai and a few others announced that the fledgling OS would one day show up front and center in their motorcars, and now v1.0 is out for the world to try. Of course, we’d probably recommend a helmet and a wide open — preferably private — roadway before you let a barely-tested system take over critical functions in your vehicle, but we digress. Those interested in digging into the first public release of MeeGo for IVI can do so right now by visiting the source link, and while we still aren’t hopeful that this will begin supplanting existing (awful) infotainment systems in the very near future, at least we’ve got some progress to smile about.

Man, there’s about a zero percent chance that Steve Jobs and company are happy about this. Just days after shocking the market with higher-than-expected profits and revenues , Apple is having to grit its teeth once more with yet another iPhone 4 problem.
